"I had been very ill back in 1980 and i had a fivehour operation.I was really at death's door at the time. Then in 1981 i stood watching the runners in the dublin marathon pass by on glasnevin avenue and i decided that i wanted to be more than a spectator.I ran in the event the following year and finished in three hours 11 minutes. " Brian's first marathon outing in fancy dress won him a special prize of a trip to the london marathon and since then he has won an array of other prizes for his creativity. "I will try to come up with something special for the lifestyle sports adidas irish runner challenge,"He said. "I love taking part in the race series and a lot of the runners know me by now homepage and give me a lot of encouragement. " Tyrrell was 44 when he took up running and he is glad that he discovered the sport. "Running has done a lot for me and it has helped me cope too through periods of illness,"Said brian.
